Elkton Public Works Gets Downtown Ready for the Holiday Season

Elkton Public Works crews have been busy over the past several days getting the downtown area ready for the holiday season.  Though it’s been misty and damp over the past few days, the decorated street lamp in front of the courthouse brightens that section of Main Street.

GET THOSE CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS DOWN! I DON’T WANT TO SEE THEM UNTIL AFTER THANKSGIVING! Where I come from, the boondocks of DORCHESTER COUNTY, we know that CHRISTMAS IS CELEBRATED AFTER THANKSGIVING NOT BEFORE IT! Ever since I started teaching in Cecil County back in the 1970’s people have always put their Christmas Decorations up before Thanksgiving. Its just plain loco!

While I’m on a role, Its been really quiet on this blog! The Mayor and Commissioners need to do something crazy and get things moving on this blogoshpere again.

  3. Dear Crazy History Teacher: We always love to read your iconoclastic comments, and in this case we totally agree: let us have one holiday at a time! But given the economic hard times we are currently experiencing, I guess the local retailers are trying to get whatever leverage they can muster to get some holiday $ into their cash registers as soon as possible.
