The decision to wave the fees is causing a great deal of controversy in the public comments section of the meeting. Right now former Mayor Crouse, who served the town for 20-years as its chief executive, is talking to the board about transferring the fees. Commissioner Piner questioned Mayor Crouse’s remarks and there was a heated exchange. Earlier in the public comments section Commissioner Piner had another exchange with Bob Litzenberg as he questioned a potential conflict of interest.
The public has a right to know what you’re doing, Jim said. They don’t know since your minutes are posted after the fact and the public isn’t allowed to comment while you’re considering the action. Earlier Mayor Crouse had raised his hand to offer some input, as the public became aware of the decision the board was preparing to undertake.
We’ll have extensive coverage on this and suggest you watch E-span, the town’s YouTube channel. For those interested in town affairs, it will be helpful to undeerstand the town’s actions on this matter. It’ll take a few days before the videos are posted by the town, but we’ll put up a notice alerting readers.
