Elkton Digs Out From Major Late Fall Snowstorm

DOWNTOWN ELKTON, Dec. 21 — The weekend’s powerful storm that swept up the Atlantic Seaboard, brought travel to a virtual halt in Cecil County Saturday evening as blowing snow and drifting made it extremely dangerous to venture out.  Once it pushed on toward New England, it had dumped 15-inches on Elkton, while Colora reported 17.2-inches, according to the News’ Journal  and the Examiner.  Sunday, as the temperature climbed almost to the freezing mark on thermometers, it was time to start digging  out but that was going to take some time.  Schools were closed Monday and will not reopen tomorrow.  Today Elkton public works crews, working diligently to remove snow from Main Street, were making good progress.
