News Release: Commissioners Engage legislative Consultant

News Release From the Cecil County Board of Commissioners —-

THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF CECIL COUNTY ANNOUNCED TODAY THAT THEY HAVE ENGAGED THE SERVICES OF A LEGISLATIVE CONSULTANT TO ASSIST WITH MATTERS PERTAINING TO HOUSE BILL 916 AND SENATE BILL 726 ENTITLED CECIL COUNTY-COLLECTIVE BARGAINING-REPRESENTATION OF DEPUTY SHERIFF’S-ARBITRATION-REFERENDUM AND SB 730 AND HB 914 ENTITLED CECIL COUNTY PROPERTY TAX RATE-CONSTANT YIELD TAX RATE. THE MAJORITY OF THE BOARD FINDS THAT THIS COURSE OF ACTION ,ALBEIT RARE IN NATURE FOR CECIL COUNTY,IS NECESSARY IN ORDER TO PRESERVE LOCAL DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY OF THE COMMISSIONERS.

THE COMMISSIONERS HAVE ENGAGED G.S. PROCTOR AND ASSOCIATES,INCORPORATED TO SERVE AS A REPRESENTATIVE IN CONNECTION WITH THE ABOVE RELATED LEGISLATIVE MATTERS.THE TERM OF THE ENGAGEMENT AGREEMENT IS FROM FEBRUARY 12, 2010 THROUGH APRIL 12, 2010. THE COMMISSIONERS HAVE AGREED TO PAY G.S. PROCTOR $6,000 FOR THESE SERVICES.

  1. Of course they want no collective bargin with issues, any issue in the county at that it would lesson the control (dishonesty) of the county

    Didn’t realize it wasn’t on the county commissioners press release site. After I linked to the piece posted on the CC Young Republican Club Blog, Comm Hodge forwarded a copy of the press release to me.

    Thanks for creating a public discussion about public policy matters, which we wouldn’t know about or have only marginal info on from other sources.

    if someone prints it, I’ll read and evaluate the data myself. But if its not out there, it’s hard for a citizen to consider the matter at hand.
