Elkton’s Board of Supervisors of Elections will conduct the election for a Mayor and two (2) Commissioners on Tuesday, May 25, 2010, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Singerly Fire Company Station 13, 300 Newark Avenue (MD 279).
The filing deadline for candidates of this election is Tuesday, May 4, 2010, 4:00 p.m. Candidates must file at the Administration Office, 100 Railroad Avenue, Elkton. To be qualified to hold office as the Mayor and/or as a Commissioner, a candidate shall have resided in the town for at least one (1) year immediately preceding his/her election and shall be a qualified voter of the town. [A person who has been convicted of a felony or has received a dishonorable discharge from the military service of the United States shall not be eligible to become a candidate for an elected office.]
In order to vote in a town election, a person must be a citizen of the United States, at least eighteen (18) years of age, has resided i the town for thirty (30) days prior to the election, and be a registered voter. [Note: A person may register to vote at the Cecil County Board of Elections office, 200 Chesapeake Boulevard, Elkton, Maryland (410) 996-5310]
