The Bainbridge Development Corporation elected new chairs at its meeting Monday, voted to continue timber harvesting on the site and is in the process of considering new funding sources for development.
BDC Executive Director Donna Tappley said there is concern after Cecil County’s office of economic development said Maryland Department of the Environment is most likely not going to fund the pipeline to the North East River Sewage Treatment Plant at Seneca Point, which the Bainbridge board was relying on to redevelop the former naval training center.
“Everyone was counting on that funding to kick-start the project,” she said after the meeting, explaining that MDE is expected to rank the Seneca Point project low on its list of funding priorities.
