Elkton Town Meeting — July 21, 2010 - In other business before the council at this session, the political leadership took care of the following matters:
- The mayor presented a contribution of $131,000 to Singerly Fire Company this evening. The amount for this annual donation comes from a levy of three cents per $100 of assessed real property in the municipality as specified in the municipal charter. That money helps maintain the fire company, its stations and equipment.
- The town board amended the 2011 budget, allocating $3,253 for an enhanced security system at Elk Landing. At the end of the meeting when the public was allowed to comment Ronald Rae asked the commissioners if the town was “responsible for everything at the Hollingsworth House? His conclusion was that it was time that organizations that “keep coming back to the public trough start paying their own way.
- Richard Rhinehart was appointed to the Board of Zoning Appeals by Mayor Fisona.
- At an earlier meeting he appointed Dale Frederick to the housing board.
