Midday Cecil County Election Report: Light Turnout

On this mostly sunny day as the temperature climbs comfortably to around 80 degrees, voting precincts in the county are reporting a light turnout as of noon.  At one of the Elkton locations, the firehouse on Newark Avenue, the large array of candidates and supporters didn’t have that much to do as the turnout was light around mid-day so many milled around talking to each other or waved to vehicles passing on Newark Ave.  Similar reports are coming in from around the county’s other polling places.  The official 11:00 a.m. tally from the election board indicated that 3310 ballots had been cast.  Of those 1688 were Republicans and 1531 were Democrats.  Earlier 1,288 ballots were cast in early voting.  That accounts for 2.17% of the registered voters in Cecil County.
