Storm Aftermath in Downtown Elkton Friday

As commuters attempted to get to work in downtown Elkton this Friday morning, they found many streets blocked due to flooding.  During the overnight hours, Delaware Avenue, Howard Street, and Bridges street were blocked after rushing water from the Big Elk Creek overflowed the stream.  As drivers rerouted around these primary routes, using Landing Lane and the Old Baltimore Pike, downtown merchants reported that there was another obstacle.  The other primary two-way street for east-west traffic was down to one lane due to construction at the new Senior Housing Center.  Thus traffic backed up on that route too, as vehicles had to alternate between east and west bound traffic.  This YouTube video shows flooding on these streets downtown.
