Harford County Council Unanimoulsy Approves Residential Sprinklers

This evening the Harford County Council unanimously adopted the 2009 International Building Code, with a one-year deferment on the requirement to install sprinklers in single-family homes and duplexes, the Bel Air Patch is reporting.  One councilman, Richard Slutzky, at first proposed that the council make the installation of sprinklers optional, but that motion failed 6 to 1 with only Slutzky voting in favoring.   On the second vote, there was unanimous support in favor of requiring residential sprinklers, as specified by the code, in new single family dwellings.
