Some Maryland liquor stores are bracing for impact while others are embracing an opportunity in the days leading up to July 1’s 50 percent statewide jump in the alcohol sales tax. . . .

. . . .  While Quarry Wine nor Wells expect their business to suffer much after the increase, stores closer to the Delaware line are not happy. There are no sales or alcohol taxes in Delaware.

State Line Liquors co-owner Robert Murray can see the Delaware border outside his Elkton store window. His customers include not just residents of Maryland, but Delaware and Pennsylvania residents, too.
