We’re blogging live from the meeting of the Mayor and Commissioners of Elkton right now and we have a few observations we thought we’d get into the blogosphere. Normally Elkton meetings are attended by only a handful of regular citizens and two or three, at most, may offer remarks.
As I sit here typing, the room is packed, which is such a good thing since more public involvement is what produces a balance in government. The entire space is full with nearly every chair occupied and the back of the room filled with standing citizens. A quick headcount indicates that there are about 70 people here. Most are testifying about the wells that are being tested to see if there’s sufficient water to develop a large housing project on Frenchtown Road. Several of the people testifying made dramatic statements and points. We’ll get more up on that as we get time.
