Dear Concerned Citizen,
Over the past few weeks you may have read about the proposed referendum to appear on the ballot in November to improve conditions for the members of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) as well as a separate piece of legislation to lower property taxes in Cecil County.
I, along with Senator Jacobs and Delegate Smigiel, offered a piece of legislation to act as a compromise between the Cecil County Commissioners and the FOP. Our legislation places both collective bargaining with binding arbitration and collective bargaining with nonbinding arbitration on the ballot.
We have also sponsored legislation to roll back property tax rates in response to public outcry during this tough economic time.
To discuss this legislation and listen to any concerns you may have, I, along with Senator Nancy Jacobs and Delegate Mike Smigiel, are hosting a town hall meeting on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at 7:00 pm at the Singerly Fire Company (300 Newark Avenue in Elkton, located across the street from the Elkton Library).
Please contact my office if you have any questions, at 410-841-3639 or email@example.com. We hope to see you there.
Senator E.J. Pipkin
